Call for Applications – KFAW Foreign Correspondents 2021-2022

The Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women (KFAW) is looking for three Foreign Correspondents (FCs) to take part in information collection and analysis on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The term of appointment is from July 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022.  Interested candidates must submit their applications by May 31, 2021.

Please note that the registration process requires up to 48 hours. According to the latest information from the NGO CSW/NY, there is also a limit for the total number of registrants that can use the Virtual Forum Platform. As such, we strongly recommend early registration as they are starting to reach the maximum.

NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum Parallel Event
“Youth talk: climate action and gender”

Young people in Japan and other Asian countries discuss effective ways to integrate gender perspectives into climate actions. These actions may include both advocacy and practical undertakings. Before the discussions, some good practices are presented that are adopted in prevention of extreme climate changes as well as in management of gender-responsive shelters during rehabilitation phase of natural disasters.

 

This event is hosted as part of the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum and will be delivered in English only.

Registration and Logging into the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum Platform

 

IMPORTANT

We strongly recommend early registration for the following reasons:

  1. The registration process requires up to 48 hours.
  2. According to NGO CSW/NY on March 16, there is a limit for the total number of registrants that can use the Platform. They are starting to reach the maximum.

 

  • Register here onto the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum. In order to attend any events organized by the NGO CSW65, you must first complete this registration. 
  • Attending the Forum is totally free and open to the public.
  • After you register, you will receive an email with a link.
  • Click on the link to create your profile on the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum. 
  • After you log into your profile, you will have full access to all Virtual Forum events.
  • Make sure you save your username and password to prevent trouble logging in later. (KFAW is unable to assist with login-related problems.)
  • If you have already registered for the Forum, you can log in here

 

 

Finding KFAW’s Parallel Event “Youth talk: climate action and gender” on the virtual platform

  • Log into the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum Platform
  • Click on “Agenda under the “Schedule” tab. Scroll down to SUN 21 MAR > 2:30 PM JST and find “Youth talk: climate action and gender.” Note that the event schedule will be displayed in your local time.   
  • Click on “+” to register. This will add the event to your “My Agenda” page. (You may follow the same steps for any other events that you wish to attend.)
  • Find “Youth talk: climate action and gender” added in “My Agenda” under “Schedule.”

 

On the day of the event

  • Log into the NGO CSW65 Virtual Forum Platform prior to the event start time.
  • Go to Schedule > My Agenda, and click “Youth talk: climate action and gender.”
  • A “Join meeting” icon appears 1 minute before the start time (see the image below). Click it, and Zoom will start up on your computer. (Be sure to download the Zoom app in advance.)

Call for applications:
Presenters wanted for NGO Parallel Event “Climate change and gender” held during the 65th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65)

The annual session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is held every March in New York. NGO CSW/NY organizes Parallel Events in which civil society organizations and NGOs may participate during the CSW session. Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women (KFAW) applied to host a Parallel Event during the 65th Session of the CSW (CSW65) which is scheduled to take place on March 15-26, 2021. In light of this, we are seeking youth presenters who are willing to take part in our Parellel Event.

 

Successful candidates will be asked to make a presentation on one of the following topics during the Parallel Event:

 

  1. Gender perspectives and necessary actions to be taken to respond to climate change;
  2. Adopting gender perspectives during natural disasters as serious impact of climate change and in shelter management; 
  3. Activities that you engage in to address climate change and gender

 

The language of presentation is English.

 

As a special guest participant, Disha Arora, a development communications specialist from India who serves as the 30th KFAW Foreign Correspondent, will participate in the discussion. This is a valuable opportunity to develop a better understanding of the important link between climate action and gender, as well as to discuss common interests with peers of your generation. We look forward to applications from many of you.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following four criteria:
(No restriction on citizenship, place of residence, or mother tongue. Priorities will be given to applicants from Japan and other Asian countries. )

 

  • Interested in both gender and environmental issues and willing to actively engage in actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the future;
  • Able to make presentations in English on the above theme and topics (no interpretation provided);
  • Aged below 40;
  • Able to participate using Zoom (on the day of the event and  prior meetings)
