In this video, all the presentations given in Japanese are subtitled in English, including the 2 CBO presentations that were only provided in Japanese during the live Webinar.

Climate Change and Gender
The 31st Kitakyushu Conference on Asian Women (KCAW 2020) will focus on climate change and gender. It will consider how well to promote gender equality and gender-responsive capacity building in mitigating climate change as called for by the Paris Agreement, which has just become effective this year. Goals 5 and 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)1 as well as the Paris Agreement will be discussed.
KCAW 2020 invites Kunzang Lhamu, Director of the National Commission for Women and Children at the Royal Government of Bhutan, to discuss and share Bhutan’s gender-responsive climate initiatives. As the keynote speaker, she will present challenges and measures related to Bhutan’s efforts to mainstream gender in the climate sector. Bhutan is known as a country of happiness with Gross National Happiness (GNH) instituted as the nation’s philosophy and policy direction of development in lieu of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It is also one of the most environmentally advanced countries in the world; the country has a net sink of greenhouse gases thanks to its large forest cover and its active efforts to remain carbon neutral.
In addition, two community-based organizations (CBOs) from Japan will present their efforts and achievements to mitigate climate change or to provide gender-responsive shelters during the rehabilitation phase of natural disasters.

SDG 13: “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.” The Goal 13 acknowledges that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is the primary international, intergovernmental forum for negotiating the global response to climate change.

The 29th KFAW Foreign Correspondents (hereinafter called “FCs”) Wanted!!
The Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women (KFAW) is looking for four persons as FCs to be engaged in information gathering and analyzing on gender equality, and empowerment of women as well as some public information activities for KFAW. Any person who wants to join our FC should apply by June 17, 2019. Number of recruits, qualification, duties and honorarium as well as application are as follows:

| 2．Qualification | Anyone who are residing outside of Japan, preferably in Asia and the Pacific region can apply for this job. |
| 3．Duties | (1) To submit a short essay in English or Japanese, twice a year (in June and December) on the themes stipulated in the Application Guidelines. (2) To provide KFAW with information on gender-related issues in your country. (3) To be engaged in some public information activities for KFAW (4) To participate in a web conference via IT |
