A committee of the 6.11 symposium on "Disaster / Restoration and Gender Equality" started up their activities planned by the Japan's Network for Women and Health and the National Council of Women's Centers. The aims of this symposium are to make proposals and request central and local governments to create reforms from a gender perspective for elderly women's care; welfare services for the physically challenged; and countermeasures against privacy concerns for evacuees and sexual violence against women. As of May 2, 48 NGOs and 29 people have announced their participation in the symposium.
Accordingly, KFAW supported the symposium's purpose and accepted the offer to be one of the committee members. We would like to contribute to expanding these activities by working together with relevant organizations and NGOs.
