The Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women (KFAW) organized the Seminar on Gender Mainstreaming Policies for Government Officers for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This seminar fosters the ability of governmental officers to create effective and comprehensive policies which mainstream genderbased perspectives to address various problems in developing countries.
This year, 15 trainees from 15 countries participated in KFAW's 4 week seminar (June 20 -July 18). Trainees attended various programs designed to help create gender-equal societies.
15 trainees of the seminar made presentations at KFAW's Country Report Meeting in July 15, 2008. Ms.Reiko Ogawa, Associate Professor at Kyushu University, acted as chairperson and coordinated the meeting. Despite limited time for each presentation, the audience was able to learn about various issues in all 15 countries.
